My daughter, Tori, takes her work to the coffee shop at night, and sometimes she takes me with her. We put on our headphones and drink coffee and don’t talk much, but we sure get stuff done. It’s one of my new favorite things. Erin and I have coffee hangouts at her house (with Baby Shae!), Tori and I have coffee/work power hours, and it is so good for my soul. I know, it’s a lot of coffee – but it’s the best thing ever to be able to spend time regularly with my girls. And also, yes I do like coffee. Like, kind of a lot.
On the topic of work: the amount of words I have made in these past couple of months is completely absurd. I’ve written so many stories that my little old lady hands are aching and my brain is a bit swirly and my eyes have demanded a higher number on the side of my reading glasses.
But I’m still obsessed with this work I get to do. I wake up in the middle of the night with my heart beating delightfully fast after literally DREAMING of how to start a story I had been fretting about as I fell asleep, and I’m excited, even when it’s a lot, to do this work. Growing up, all I ever wanted to be was a writer, and it’s so unbelievably cool that this is actually my life. The *best* part is sharing it with my people.
